The Semitic Museum, whose “focus is the Near East. Most of its 40,000-odd objects were obtained during museum-sponsored excavations in Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Tunisia, and Syria”, has opened a new exhibition on the creation of the museum itself by founder David Gordon Lyon in 1889. Titled “From the Nile to the Euphrates: Creating The Harvard Semitic Museum,” the show takes up a packed 2nd floor room in the museum, and all gallery and display lighting was designed and aimed by Anna Baranczak.
