Karmen’s first memorable encounter with light happened when she was a child, chasing fireflies in the summer evenings. Her curiosity about how one’s surroundings influence emotion and perception expanded when she learned about the atmospheric qualities of light in space. Trained as an engineer at RPI, Karmen left the construction field for design. She finds fulfillment in uniting her background in science with her graduate studies in lighting to create well-illuminated spaces. Apart from lighting, Karmen enjoys listening to music, reading, and hiking trails with her pup.
