The newly transformed Education Center at George Washington’s Mount Vernon brings the life and legacy of America’s first president to a new generation of visitors. The $20 million, 21,000-square-foot renovation introduces George Washington: A Revolutionary Life, a permanent exhibition comprising nine galleries, six immersive media experiences, interactive learning spaces, and an expanded presentation of original artifacts and documents.

Lam Partners provided gallery lighting design as well as custom integral casework lighting design, working closely with the architects, exhibit designers and museum staff to develop a full range of lighting systems for the inaugural refreshed and updated exhibition. This included the review of objects, display options, as well as prototypical casework design and modification in preparation for the integrated and completed exhibits with onsite fixture focusing and lighting control programming.
